First Frost

First frost layered on green grass
Birds take early flight
Earth looks like glass
Chilly crisp nights

The golden sun shines bright today
Autumn will soon disappear
Winter is on its way
Warm blankets cover this time of year

Almost the end of October
Leaves wave good-bye to trees
This beautiful season will be over
Trees will stand alone and freeze

November will greet us in the afternoon
Thanksgiving, blessings, family, and friends
Another month singing a new tune
Winter's creeping around the bend

First frost cold winds blow
Creatures all care for one another
Cold weather turns to wonderland snow
All seasons bow down and make way for each other
