Guiding Light

Emanating from the darkness of the night,
A piercing ray delivers such a guiding light,
Against the silhouette of the rugged shore,
Waves spell danger with their crashing roar,

Many a ship's crew express admiration,
To a man alone and a light of salvation,
Through inky blackness he clears a path,
Giving safe passage against nature's wrath,

The majestic lighthouse stands proud and tall,
It's rhythmic radiations on wary mariners fall,
No harbour in sight, only this solitary tower,
Showing the way to battle an ocean's power ,

Now fully automated, no lonely keeper inside,
With a rich history, we look back with pride,
They alerted us to peril, with their warning glow,
A glorious guiding light for men and ships below
