 Ending Friendship

People have the common misconception
That close friends will always be there
Relationships end beyond expectation
Even though each person deeply cares

Human emotions can get out of hand
Because of pain, anger, and hurt inside
Due to reasons they may not understand
Even thinking they have been cast aside

Circumstances that brought people together
Later change as a result of decisions made
Affecting relationship between each other
Values once equally shared in common fade

Each person should have the freedom to share
Passions coming from their heart with others
Differing beliefs often creates barriers there
Leading to end friendships with one another

Not because of being judgmental in any way
But it hinders ability to share about your life
For fear of going too far in the words you say
That you will cause offense and further strife

In certain cases, it is very hard to part ways
When a person remains close to your heart
A true friend accepts what the person says
Without questioning their reason to depart

Pray for guidance before making a decision
Be thankful for good times and leave in peace
Avoid blame and making false accusations
Which slows process of healing and release

Colossians 3:15 (NIV)
Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts,
since as members of one body you were called
to peace. And be thankful.

NOTE:  This poem is a very personal write.
However, I wanted to post it for the reason
that all of us, at some point in our lives,
can relate to broken relationships.  Each
situation is different, but healing is
possible, over time, if we are willing to
forgive the other person and deal with our
emotional feelings in a healthy way.

The following is a link to an anonymous poem
I have found helpful in understanding friendships:

God bless you!
