Do not Take Oaths
Above anything,
Never take an oath;
For what it may bring,
An immoral growth.
If you start to swear,
It could be a curse;
And fire to flare,
That could be adverse.
Straying from the truth,
Is being unwise;
Considered uncouth,
To tell outright lies.
And God will condemn,
Anything profane;
That may quickly stem,
Derailing your train.
Let your yes mean yes,
And your no mean no;
Truth as you express,
Going to and fro.
For all that you say,
Shows a point of view;
Makes you easy prey,
As Satan gets you.
