TODAY THE SKY IS GRAY
TODAY THE SKY IS GRAY When I awaken this morning I lay praying and thinking of my life If I had let myself I would have been full of dread So many years ago on this day of this month we stood and spoke our vows to each other and to our God Most of the time was full of joy Often there were tears I was a young girl full of myself - wanting what I wanted Thinking much to highly of myself ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Then our first child was born I never really knew what giving love was till then There was a little life looking to me for her needs and care With her my whole heart I did share I do not think I ever loved anyone before more than myself For the first time I thought of someones needs and wants over mine Joy filled our heart for we then had a son Our love we freely gave - our hearts he so easily won Little ones with eyes of blue like their dad's Miniatures of me and you ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ The last few years of my love's life he was very ill BUT his courage and devotion to his family were without measure He loved his God - he never questioned "Why me" Each morning his prayer was "Thank you Father for this beautiful day" It made no difference if the sky was raining and gray or if there was snow and ice on the ground To him it was beautiful for he was with us He knew this was only the beginning of our life journey together ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ When I awaken this morning I lay praying and thinking of my life If I had let myself I would have been full of dread God reminded me of all these blessings He gave - Today the sky is gray but I - like my love - say "Thank you Father for this beautiful day" © Kathy Collier - October 21, 2009 All pictures © Kathy Collier

*Where did the years go? It seems like just yesterday... But the styles remind me it was "Our Golden Days". ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
