* DAKSHA'S SACRIFICE * Part.3

Last episode of the Story.
" Lord of Compassion "
Thank you for reading this
mythological story~ venkat
~*~^~*~

Bhadra and his fierce army of demons destroyed
Every thing in rage, kicked the vessels, smashed
The lamps, destroyed idols and ‘tacked every one.
They dragged out gods and goddesses and forced
Them to their knees, danced on Mahendra's head
Broke the staff of the King of Death and tore away
Beards and moustaches of the divine sages, hands
Of Fire God were cut off, and Sacrifice it self took
The shape of a deer and tried to escape, Bhadra cut
Its head and with a mighty blow of his blazing axe
Daksha's head rolled on and fell into the sacrificial
Fires, at last it's the turn of Sun God for he couldn't
Hide, since his own brightness betrayed his location
"You Sun, didn't you laugh baring your teeth when
Siva was abused?"- With these words he slapped on
Sun's check resulting in the fall of all his fiery-teeth
And his luster was grabbed: all this was accomplished
By Bhadra in no time and then dead silence prevailed.

Every where lay corpses, shattered vessels and broken
Idols and at the centre of hall was the head less body
Of Daksha gushing blood as his wife sat mourning by
Its side and at a little distance lay the body of Sati,
The flames had taken her life yet didn't tarnish
Her loveliness, looked as if she was sleeping,
No body knew when Siva did come and sat by the side
      Of Sati's body shedding silent tears constantly staring it;
He saw nothing else, heard nothing of the commotion
For him all things had ceased to be. His mind came out
Of dungeon of grief when he heard Veerini's weeping,
Turned His eyes and saw the noble lady stand before him
Begging for her husband's life. Recognizing the gray haired
Lady as the beloved mother of his beloved Sati He whispered
"Let Daksha live" and resumed silence. All of a sudden
Daksha's blood stained body began to move.
As his headless trunk rose up with its hands groping blindly
All were horrified to see then Bhadra cut off the head of a goat
And slapped it on to the trunk of Daksha whose spirit
Blinked at the world out of goat's eyes, even as his words came
In goat's reedy quivering voice "Om Namah Sivaya!
O Lord of compassion, Thou art the soul of universe,
Thou art the embodiment of the blissful consciousness,
In Thee I take refuge, Show Thy mercy upon this sinner!"

On hearing his prayer to Siva, Bhadra and his army of demons
At once disappeared. Gods and sages expressed their sorrow
And bade farewell to Siva. He noticed the lack of staff in the
Hands of the king of death and asked him to take a new one
And saw the Sun God standing at a distance with his head down
Wards cast caressing his cheek with pain and of tooth less mouth
As his heat had gone he was shivering. Siva took pity on him
"Sun, get your heat and brightness back, but thou must watch with
Care all actions of men, be thou witness when they reap their fruit,
Repent and perform penance, resume your duty for the welfare
Of the world." Then Sun God was much pleased and went away
To discharge his duties in the high skies as his powers restored.
Years later, Sati was born as Parvati, the daughter of Himavan,
The lord of the snow capped Mountain and married Lord Siva
And she was called the Lady of the Mountain, the adorable
Mother of the world, and was known as the ever compassionate
Guardian of eternal laws and the embodiment of Sacred Word!
      -End.
