We need to be reminded what our
service men and women do and did for us
I can only stand and salutes them
for the great price they pay and paid for us to be free

I do not know who
wrote this poem - Whoever it was
I have a great Thank You for you
THE VETERAN
It is the
VETERAN, not the preacher,
who has given us freedom of religion.
It is the VETERAN, not the reporter,
who has given us freedom of the press.
It is the VETERAN, not the poet,
who has given us freedom of speech.
It is the VETERAN, not the campus organizer,
who has given us freedom to assemble.
It is the VETERAN, not the lawyer,
who has given us the right to a fair trial.
It is the VETERAN, not the politician,
Who has given us the right to vote.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
It is the veteran
who serves under the Flag,
ETERNAL FATHER,
GRANT THEM REST O LORD, AND LET PERPETUAL LIGHT SHINE UPON
THEM.
God
Bless them all!!!
***This was an email send to me by one of my
fellow poets Dan Donlan on this poetrypoem site
I consider him to be one of our great Americans
He served with honor in the Korean war
Married a wonderful woman
raised a loving family
set an excellent example for friends and neighbors
we can be proud of men like him
AND of my silver haired honey
THOMAS COLLIER
who was a veteran too - a brave and wonderful man
~~~~~~~ a Navy man ~~~~~~~
