It was rainy and cold March 3,1938
All the roads were blocked by police
I was in the front seat of a ten ton coal truck
Dad was drunk, always truck, taking me to the hospital
Blue and reds blocking every street corner
I was that important--? Well,there had been a bank robbery
We were the only vehicle let through the roadblock
Mom and I, you see this was the day of my birth
Dad knew allot of police officers, most had arrested him
But then being Irish Catholic, many were family
Oh, they caught the bank robbers a forty two mile chase
I cried allot that morning and then sleep most of the day
How do I know all this--?I found an old copy of
The newspaper, the day I was born, a slow news day
A truck with police escort going through the roadblock
