Dark crystal shadows of another place in time
bright colours all ground down, now dust
the blue sky above so fragile and fading
where hardship be the principles' of trust.
No moonlit serenades on a warm summers evening
only bright skies when the rain was so near…
mothers sit praying there'll be food for their children
their children still living in fear.
Dark corners and tunnels no light for direction
where hope's always trapped and alone
madmen and gunmen all fighting for freedom
but freedom has never a home.
Africa, Africa… our soul of creation
you are to all men the soul of mankind
from your shores we travelled to grow and to prosper
but always we leave you behind?
