Birth AnnouncementShepherds tended their flock, Watching them like a hawk; Taking turns during the night, Until the dawning light. An angel from the Lord, That could not be ignored; Appeared within their sight, Shining glory so bright. They just trembled with fear, With this being so near; Causing them such a fright, Like a ghost in the night. Do not fear it was said, By an angel up ahead; Not a time to be sad, But tidings that are glad. A Savior born this day, In a manger to lay; Christ the Lord came to earth, A boy of virgin birth. The angels praised on high, For Christ the Lord is nigh; From God up in Heaven, A Savior is given. Copyright © 2009 Richard Newton Sherrer Vote for this poem
