The crossI ask in the name of the Lord, Do not let His words be ignored; Agree with others not to split, Keeping the church as one unit. Uniting what you understand, Not being built on sinking sand; Bickering while you argue, Will make the church lose its value. Christ did not send me to baptize, But to the church to energize; As I am spreading the Good News, Through poetry of His values. It is the Gospel that I preach, Through the poetry that I teach; While the message is the cross, To bring order to this chaos. The core of the cross could be lost, If unaware of the true cost; And attending church be in vain, As it would be downright mundane. The Word of the cross is foolish, For all of those who will perish; But to us who have salvation, God gives us a new foundation. Copyright © 2009 Richard Newton Sherrer Vote for this poem
