Holding Fast to Faith
You did not want things sacrificed,
But prepared a body for Christ;
Nor approve of burnt offerings,
For the sins and the sufferings.
So Christ came to do what you want,
Not as a ghost to try to haunt;
But to obey as God conceives,
With a firm faith that truly believes.
Holiness has set us apart,
When we have Christ in our heart;
Who sacrificed himself for all,
The sins causing our downfall.
One sacrifice lasts forever,
That believers cannot sever;
A sacrifice taking away,
Every sin that made you stray.
And God the Father had given,
The highest status in Heaven;
And waiting to make a footstool,
Out of each and every fool.
Christ will put in each heart and mind,
All of His teachings that will bind;
Them to His Word every day,
For knowing how and why to obey.
