 ramblings and things

Hoolie

Wine and spirits on the sideboard
Crates of beer stacked in the hall
The front door standing open
To say welcome one and all
There's curry on the hob
Rice in a huge pot dish
Come on one and all
Eat as much as you wish
There's an old milk churn
Half full of bitter ale
Add what you want
A sort of beery cocktail
Dig in as you please
Food and hospitality free
Just bring a few bottles
For the Friday night entry fee

The neighbours all invited
Along with their friends
For nobody knows when
These events ever end
It's a Sixties bottle party
Starting up again tonight
And carrying on probably
To Monday morning light
There's meetings and liaisons
As people come and go
To and from the party
In a weekend long flow
The sun rises early
On a fine spring day
The last of the revellers
Are out and on their way
