CHANCES

If I ever get a chance in life
I'd like to free a bird
And let it fly away again
I think cages are absurd

I could take the chance to nourish
The life inside to grow
To help it blossom to the full
And not deal that hurtful blow

I'd also like to give a child
The chance to become free
And take away the armour
That doesn't let him be

The next time that I get the chance
I'll hold someone by the hand
When that is what is needed..
Not a handout, just a hand.

If I ever get a chance in life
I think I'll take the chance
It might change a life of sorrow
To one of song and dance

Julie G (c)2010.
