Never make love with an ex
Even in a state of drunken stew
To be sharing with them sex
Its not the thing that one should do
Don't regard it as a victory
One over on old what's-its-name
Or as an act of magnanimous  pity
Sure as heck they're thinking the same

Remember the past situation
With that  former partner or wife
The present really bears  no relation
To that gone past  part of your life
If contact is thought to be needed
Just give ‘em a peck on the cheek
Show that all desire has receded
All  forgotten in less than a  week

Never make love with the past
Maybe just take ‘em out to tea
When you can make it last
As long as you want it to be
And you can both sit and chat
And you can let them know
Things are now better than that
Just before you get up and go.
