Temptation
the pretty young girl
at the corner store
leaned into him
and swore she saw
his timid little face
around this town
two or three times before
he said to her
beneath a smile
you have misplaced
my swaggering style
for somebody else
along this street
pouting their lips
or stomping their feet
she laughed and giggled
with innocent ease
casting a spell
on whoever she please
her eyes were soft
with piercing glow
in a way many men
will never know
boy and girl stumbled
through messy talk
until her decision
was a late night walk
she left her trolley
he left his milk
to float through skies
of poisonous silk
the taste was delicious
like chocolate cream cake
on a diet so strict
without room for mistake
together they vanished
under half happy moon
secretly wishing
they shop again soon
