Saloon Girl... many moons ago @ Wisconsin Dells... used in poem

As I open a dusty covered scrapbook,
Where sweet memories are kept still,
I turn the pages, one at a time,
Till I reach the ones I still embrace.

When my hand clenched in yours,
That is when I gave you my love,
And when our lips softly touched,
That is when I gave you my heart.

My head still leans upon your shoulder,
For that is when you made me feel whole,
And as I gaze in the sky so blue,
I hear melodies that remind me of you.

A gifted voice I never had,
Yet when I sang for you, and only you,
Your lips would unfold the sweetest smile,
And I continued on for at least a mile.

Time spent with love... so very precious,
We may not be able to go back and relive it,
Though, when kept in a safe place,
You can carry on the memories you cherish.

Let us raise a cup of sweetness,
And drink to all the love and friendship,
As we sing to those melodies of old,
The ones that remind us of you and me.
