IN THE POURING RAIN

IN THE POURING RAIN

Raindrops are holding a piece of my heart
Falling from the fading argent sky
I would catch a few and send them to you
If only I could keep the envelope dry....

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Bitter is the distance, that lies between you and I
I've become lost amid clouds tinged in blue
Wearing colors of each mood; these things I deny
Do you think it an accident that I whisper of you?

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Blow ye winds of winter, adrift without direction
Bring his love into the harbor of my soul
I'll build a shelter inside the sun's reflection
As I shield him from tomorrow's cold

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

We can walk across the city in the pouring rain
Not measuring the minutes as we grow old
We'll bury the purple darkness of yesterday's pain
Blend with the raindrops, watch the world unfold
