The Iron LadyFamed as the lady with lashing tongue Revered for her whip that surely stung Undeterred, her rules must be obeyed Chastised with a stick so my ways be made Tongue that tell lies is vicious she said Over this sin pepper cream you'll get Unruly trait she won't permit So on she did her pruning early A sturdy tree was her plan for me Love was snipped at an early age Life spent in isolation and rage Abandoned, a cast-away they say No one cared if I cried night and day Envious of the birds that flew freely Someday life would be fair, you'll see Nurtured strangely in my Grandma's way A lady with her stick to chase me Disdain dissolved as I got older Each whip was meant to make me better Love left unspoken now clear to me Amidst storms your tree remained sturdy.
