Conventional LadyAstute and conventional was her way Bound in her role for family loyalty Unselfish love she tried to convey Neglected desire for matrimony Determined to accomplish her mission Instilled the value of education Against odds a potent ammunition Leisurely showing her prowess on stage Able to please had been our heritage Unpleasant moments became savoury Gregariousness innate to the family Abundant music to heal the spirit Numbed by loneliness no one would admit Nonetheless to mould me was fruitless A spinster out of me I would dismiss Dressed in their old-fashioned way was gruesome Even my smile was under their command Leaden by rules I silently defied A disgrace when counsel was cast aside.
