my grandpas beard
my grandpas beard was four days old:'
he was a carpenter i was told:
he would build them big red barns;
and he worked his farm;
on any wisconsin day:
my grandpa earned his pay:
ten kids were waiting at home:
he never felt alone:
he had a loving wife:
who did things just right:
all of the kids pitched in;
grandpa taught them to nlive right without sin:
he was a hard working man;
tall and slender he would stand;
he didnt say much out loud:
but i always saw him pray with his head bowed:
he was a man so strong:
he never did no wrong:
he had a twinkle in his eye;
i never ever saw him sigh:
he was a great man:
and i loved him grand:
