Passed
together we sit
perplexed by humanity
unwise to the unknown
paralysed by senses
too smart for our own good
floating headfirst down stream
into pools of prediction
shivering in hot coals
waiting for the right time
holding back til the last second
when at that
the urge has passed
the genius is gone
swallowed by comfort zones
and fear
digested and passed on
like flickers from a shooting star
captured briefly
in the corner of a wandering eye
a split second of chance
then lost forever
like it was never even there
