Evolving from a shy country mouse
Lured by things I thought were glamorous
Delve deeper was your commendation
Out of that slum with your protection
Reared to be free from gullibility
A harsh world no place for naivety
Defying those who tried to do harm
Another world from my lonely farm.
Patiently you taught me survival art
At school my brain was honed a lot
Not minding if I was teased and mocked
Tough life if we blend with affluent stock
Undaunted to reach the goal ahead
A journey bound to fail if misled
Not if dreams were set to be fulfilled.
Slaving a humble occupation
Could lead the way to our ambition
Humbly we laboured to get through
Menial duties that paid very low
Immense joy as we counted each dough
Destined not to be servants for long
Though those hardships had made us strong
Heaven paved the way where we belong.
