Always will I remember
those happy tender years
Ignorant country girl I was
and you the city lass
Distant hills I left behind
to march through downtown isles
A torch once flickered my path
then altered to neon lights.
Among friends you were the best
willing to use your fist
Calm yet you shoved them away
those who hurt me were your enemy
Often in my curiosity
I acted foolishly
So many risky times
unaware of city crimes
Tactfully you came to my rescue
the defender that I knew
Always the city lass
perverts had no chance to pass.
Rolling years moved so fast
we traveled through different paths
Often in my trouble
your name I always recall
Memories I'll always keep
you taught me not to weep
Even when tears ran down my cheek
when I feel I'd almost break
Remembering brought relief
we'll stand to our belief
Always bear this in mind
you're a special friend of mine.
