Mechanical Mayhem

He built a machine that built a machine
That took the first machine apart
Then smiled with anticipation
As he pressed a button marked start
One machine standing
And after a little while
One machine reduced
To a component pile

He ate a late late breakfast
Brushed his teeth and then
Built a machine that built a machine
To rebuild the first machine again
Four machines now standing
Each in a corner on its own
And he stood in the middle
Feeling silly and alone

A master of creation
With very little to show
He pressed all four start buttons
And then prepared to go
He left the ensuing chaos
Took a one way trip to Peru
Where up there in the Andes
He found other things to do
