THE BIG SLIDE

madison elementary:
during winter recess that was the place to be:

the big slide on the play ground was icy slick:
wed go down standing up sliding as our kick:

im surprised now that no one ever got hurt bad;
but during winter recess that was the most fun us kids had:

going down the icy slide standing tall:
you were so proud if you made it without a fall:

it was daring id have to admit:
it hurt pretty bad when the ground you hit:

all the girls would watch as the boys came down the slide:
if you fell and got hurt all your pain you would hide:

the big slide was a challenge you know:
especially standing up as youd go:

i think we were lucky no one ever got hurt at all:
from a bad slippery fall:

not every boy was brave enough to try:
you had to have courage and be ready to die:

i went down that slide standing tall:
i know i was just lucky i never had a bad fall
