when i was a boy

when i was just a little boy:
i remember now all of my joys:

when dad would push me on the swings:
and mom she treated me as a king:

the love and  hugs i got made me feel so secure;
i loved my parents thats for sure:

i was taught right from wrong:
with my family i knew i belonged:

when i was a boy i knew god was watching over me:
when i was a boy i knew everything god could see:

i learbed to pray young:
and at church praise to  the lord was sung:

when i was a boy i learned to swim at the ymca:
when i was boy i learned to kneel when i prayed:

when i was a boy catholic nuns taught me the golden rule:
the nuns were so hard on us in school:

we learned to sing and give praise:
with faith i was always raised:

when i was a boy i was the one who made everyone else laugh:
i guess that was my genuine craft:

a new candy bar dad brought to me everyday:
then dad he would look at you and say-we'll what do you say:

then i'd run to him and give him a great big hug:
then he would pick me up and hold me snug:

our house was always so clean and neat:
for us mom she always had a special treat:

mom and dad worked hard everyday:
mom and dad in everything they always showed me the way:

when i was a boy i was taught faith and to always pray:
and now as a man my faith is always here to stay:

i try to teach my kids to have faith and to always stay strong:
and with hope and faith how can you go wrong;

when i was a boy mom and dad taught me right;
when i was a boy i knew i had a future bright:
