Ever flown like a bald eagle
Far below seeing unknown things
Or jumped from leaf to leaf
As from a tadpole a frog clings
A cricket or a daddy long leg sings
Cars below halt for you have wings
And from the closet toys alive spring
Yet under the bed lay frightening things
And you jump and float to the other side
From the creatures under bed that hide
Or be teased by other children who really lied
And escape from demons far away smile wide
And mother comes and says is it you who cried?
And your childhood dream for her confide
For me these were all of my childhood dreams
And all at once the paddle of a teacher stings
and in the closets hidden as the recess bell rings
For your mind has wandered to so many other things
and you have been lost once again in childhood dreams
