OLD PHOTOGRAPH#2In the Christmas photographs 1948 Uncle Dan Aunt Evelyn and five children Uncle Dan a giant of a man was a benefactor too I was named after him and he protected Mom when he could The earth would shake in their fights He would protect us from his drunken brother A man six foot four and strong as any other He and Evelyn died New Years day years apart The day of his birth and Evelyn a broken heart There are many stories in photograph two Did you know one of my cousins was a Seafair Princess? There she is that beautiful girl dark Irish hair The next few lines will be about her Those who know me know I don't often ask for prayers But she is in the hospital attacked by Cancer In 1956 I was her date in the parade car There we are in photograph three Skinny dude in a suit a beauty is she I introduced her to my best friend now her husband You see as cousins we were best friends Let's hope a miracle not how this story ends Poetry Ad-Free Upgrades Vote for this poem
