Struggle against Covetousness
What makes fights and quarrels,
In life as it snarls;
Being caused by pleasures,
That your heart now treasures.
Because of desires,
That will light the fires;
Deep down causing your lust,
That is deceiving trust.
You are blind by the night,
That makes you want to fight;
And then it will upstage,
As you go in a rage.
You become its puppet,
As you kill to covet;
To lie cheat and to steal,
As it fills up your zeal.
Pray that you desire,
So you can acquire;
If faithful what you do,
God will give them to you.
But it is just treason,
Wanting for a reason;
That is for your pleasure,
Using at your leisure.
