Happy Birthday To My Baby
Do pretty words on pretty paper
Still play a part in our romance?
Still inclined to think they do
I write them out at every chance.
Although you aren't visible...
Cannot be seen upon this earth.
Yet somehow I sense your presence
As I celebrate your birth.
Memories of cakes and candles...
Delicious thoughts of days gone by
Bring you back into the picture...
Bring a teardrop to my eye.
Birthday bashes were my special.
I enjoyed the specialized.
You enjoyed the friends who gathered...
Pretending to be so surprised!
I well remember all the wishes...
Every toast each one would raise...
All the nice things said about you
At almost all of your birthdays.
But, of course, your favorite moment...
Always the big joy of your life
Was a poem for the occasion...
One written by your loving wife.
I still recall each look of love...
Your eyes reflecting such delight!
You were always so astonished
By all the loving words I'd write.
But you were my inspiration.
You brought out the best in me.
Second only to the Savior,
You perfected poetry.
So, once again, my darling
These words I send your way...
With all my heart I love you.
Have a Heavenly Birthday.
Lovingly Presented,
Doris Jacobs-Covington
