Bleed the family for alcohol
Mom worked ten hours for eight
Bus ride fifteen miles to work
Sis ate school lunches I brought home
Eight years old I decided to find a job
Not everyone suffers hard times

Monday morning I started
Mowed lawns gathered leaves dumped trash
End of day swept out the office
He owned some rentals mowed those lawns
Washed his Cadillac two times a day
Friday I came in for my pay
He handed me a dollar snickering to his salesman
He probably played the same game with them
I thought he was kidding
"Get out of here kid you just learned a lesson"
Adding, "Learn how to negotiate a contract."
Monday morning I arrived early at the office
"What are you doing here kid job is filled?"
I handed him his dollar
Dumped bags of trash all over his floor
My friends outside were spreading leaves
As I ran away, "You just learned a lesson!"
Couldn't wait for him to see his dung filled car
