Presumption of guilt

Presumption of guilt, forever thus labelled
honesty only ever used… as a lie
tears that are wept fall only on selfish ground
for the truth that long ago said goodbye
cynicism reigns behind every good gesture
flashlights and headlines proclaim
one man stands alone, the rest never questioned
…if anyone ever knew of his name?
guilty as charged and guilty by nature
good deeds never changing their view
you are what you are and forever thus labelled
presumption of guilt what they'll choose.

Because we are guilty of some things…
Does not mean we are guilty of everything!
