As I look into the mirror
Everything looks the same
But I see what I want to see
The knees have become weak
Have I forgotten a name?
Then the e-mail came
So young so beautiful
She may live until spring
Oh and John--no longer golfs
They say he has dementia
Grandpa is 93 Grandma 90
Oldest Granddaughter is 22
Today as daily I read the obituaries
I am safe until the end of day
I think I won't look in the mirror
Nor will I look at my watch
Live each day for tomorrow
Share my love with friends
Not dwell on the things of sorrow
Enough of this as we grow older
Grandson has a football game
Grandpa will be running up the sidelines
If the Grim Reaper is coming
I am not going to sit around and wait
Enjoy living before it is too late
More novels to write
Lawns and gardens to grow
When my time to rest
I will not be sitting still you know
