When I am with her I don't need to pretend,
this one time lover, now very special friend.
We wander together on long country walks
all the while talking our old friendly talks.
And after she knows, as I sit in her chair,
for we always take our coffee with her,
I want to turn back the clock to the when
we were still lovers and to be lovers again.

She accepts the situation, never tries to tease,
smiles as we chat and parries with ease
my clumsy attempts to get inside her head
and so further my progress back into her bed.
And she gives me a cuddle just before I go
as my body asks a yes and hers replies a no.
I'll see her next week and we'll walk and then
our politely pleasant duel will resume again.
