Profession of Obedience
How can a man remain pure,
When temptations try to lure;
While you sway from the truth,
Causing you to be uncouth.
How can someone cleanse his way,
When temptation make you stray;
After a reading the Word,
To ignore what you have heard.
Do not go wander away,
Just remember to obey;
For all of that you were told,
His commandments are like gold.
They are a cherished treasure,
For you to take the pleasure;
In guarding them with your life,
Even in the midst of strife.
For the strife is just a means,
That merely attempts and weans;
From protection of His laws,
For producing little flaws.
But I find joy in the way,
Truly what the Word does say;
More than any joy from sin,
That makes corruption within.
