that box of old photographs
with a little prodding from a friend
are starting to make sense
are coming together in the end
and those once unknown faces
are coming back to mind
though the family history
is a little harder to find

and the memories they are stirring
from my childhood long past
are settling into place
solving relationships at last
and Great Grandfather Billy
seems to stare at me with favour
as though silently approving of
all our efforts and our labour

Dedicated to Paul for all his interest, and helping bring back the memories and the names to the faces
