Weaken my love

Neither time nor space could weaken my love for you
for this love for you has been with me so long
it is all I have known, though now only a burden
through a lifetime where all love was wrong
loving you… was the greatest gift ever
to have such beauty right here in my arms
to kiss you… to hold you… to dream of forever
to feel that I'm a million miles from harm
then jealousy raged and we both charged into battle
inflicting such deep pain …we cried
then love was a word born only of anger
and the love that you had simply died
but my love for you has remained a sore keepsake
of the great love… the new love, once true
never forgetting the times you whispered “come love me”
and the love I shared with you to.
