The Goal of a Spiritual Person
I have not yet reached my goal,
Nor have completed the course;
But the winning of each soul,
Using the Gospel as my source.
For I am running to win,
Just as Christ has done for me;
Show others how to beat sin,
Enlightening them to see.
I am not a winner yet,
But this is what I will do;
I will not worry or fret,
Or look into my rear view.
I will not be looking back,
But be lengthening my stride;
As I will shorten the slack,
Ensuring that I abide.
So I abide in the Lord,
As I run straight toward the goal;
That His Word not be ignored,
Within my own very soul.
For I want to win the prize,
That waits for me in Heaven;
As God shows grace in His eyes,
When the treasure is given.
