I said I trust joy.
I said I was her friend.
I see more than darkness.
I don't want pleasant days to end.
I see details others often miss.
And it is in the details,
where I find my bliss.
A small bird dancing,
makes a meal of my offered crumbs.
My cat stretches out like a sundial
taking in the warming sun.
The sonorous snores of my lover
are magical to me.
Only just four years ago
he was nearly lost you see.
The strong smell of sturdy coffee
the unsteady hands that drink it up.
The homemade buttered hash that I proffer,
the grateful hungry man who eats it up.
Little details in the morning,
can make a lifetime of love.
Good night wishes in the evening,
are the other side of enough.
So, I may not always exude happiness
in my writing
So, I may not always extrude glee
in my poetry
but its where I find the daily details
is the place where joy and I meet.
And when these details
fail to greet me anymore,
that's when I'll be ready
to exit out the one-way door.
A kind answer to my critics who think I need to make the aquaintance of Happiness. I already
know her, thank you.
