Grandpa was head of the Fenian's
The Fenian's believed in freedom of religion
The English put a warrant out for capture dead or alive
Ironically, it was English friends who helped him
Get on a boat and escape to America
He took with him two Bibles
A Catholic Bible and a Presbyterian Bible
Upon departure he threw both into the sea
In America he would be able to choose as he pleased
He donated the lumber to build the first Catholic Church
In the city near his home and near Lake Sammamish
Family did the construction of the Church
First Catholic services were held in his home
He was registered at times as a Presbyterian
The farm he owned was donated to the Mormon Church
There sits the Mormon Church today
His estate, but for some family donated
to Churches and charities of the day
The original farmstead was 160 acres of land
I am proud today to say My Grandpa was a man of his word
