THE LITTLE THING

THE LITTLE THING

Today, we had a long conversation
Beside the purling sea
It was more like a long narration
Between best friends you see

Oh, don't look so bemused my friend
Skies can't always smile in pink and pearly
Let's look back and comprehend
Those long speeches,"to be in early"

You see, beauty takes form in elusive ways
And the finer things are oft times free
Like tweaking memories from bypast days
Of things that used to be

Remember the first time you drove a car?
I wrecked within the first few miles
Daddy didn't know I'd taken it; but, I didn't go far
Nuggets that bring smiles

And you, I said as we stared into space
Oh, she said, there're a few moments to uncover
Like tasting dad's liquor; the look on his face
Unlocking doors; let's rediscover

Feel life's substance; embrace another's touch
Put a message in a bottle where the brook and river meet
It's time to go my friend; this meant so much
Finger-painting memories from our window seat
