Losing Love

Beneath the moon you had told me goodbye
kissing me softly before walking away
I knew I could have cried and begged for your love
but I had done that yesterday
I was given the chance to repair what was torn
but the damage would always be there
just out of sight, but always a reminder
that caused our blue sky to tear
so often I've dreamt of a life spent besides you
then woken to the reality light brings
no angels in heaven guiding us closer together
no song birds in the morning to sing
each night the moon once more shines upon me
then leaves me in the darkness alone
wondering through life awaiting my judgement
after losing all the love I'd ever known.
