Wisdom Prolongs LifeWisdom has built her home, Seven pillars in front; She killed beasts that did roam, On the grounds she had hunt. She had mingled her wine, And furnished her table; Wanting a man to dine, Who was fit and able. She sent forth her maidens, And cried in the city; Each bachelor she beckons, Showed no sign of pity. Come and eat of my bread, Drink a cup of my wine; So many times she said, Trying for men to dine. She had tried but no use, Some scoffed to revile; But who mocks gets abuse, About her lifestyle. Wisdom begins with fear, Showing God the respect; As you cherish Him dear, Wisdom will not reject. Copyright © 2010 Richard Newton Sherrer Vote for this poem
