ListenListen, Can you hear snow falling Gently to the ground If you pay attention You'll hear the softest sound Can you hear the children Sleeping through the night Dreaming about tomorrow When they open up their eyes Anticipating presents Made with Christmas joy Santa has a new toy For every girl and boy Except for little Sally Who sleeps out in the cold Her mother has no money Her toys have all been sold Listen, Can you hear tears falling Gently to the floor If you pay attention You've heard this sound before Can you hear the heartache Tearing her inside Do is it really matter That her father died Trying to save our country From the sick in mind He did it for his family He did it all with pride So that we may have Christmas With loved ones by our sides But now his little Sally Is alone on Christmas night Listen, Can you hear the angels As they make their way Coming for dear Sally She's finally passed away She did it without family No one to hold her tight With little snowflakes falling She died on Christmas night She knew that it was coming She saw it in a dream She's going to meet her daddy And Jesus Christ her King So if you pay attention You'll hear her sing out loud On this night of Christmas The sweetest of all sounds Copyright ©2010 Marvin H Lane Poetry Ad-Free Upgrades Vote for this poem
