Inherited PromisesWhen a person takes an oath, They base it on One greater; A formal feeling of growth, Endowed by the Creator. Their oath is a guarantee, Everything they have said; A state of accuracy, Being recorded or read. God will never change His plans, Making it perfectly clear; To get His promise that spans, Overall both far and near. God took an oath to promise, That we would be encouraged; For us to stay serious, And lying is discouraged. Those who have fled for refuge, In laying hold of the hope; Find themselves in a deluge, Of wrath with lies in their scope. As an anchor of the soul, Confidence fills our lives; For us to maintain control, As the Holy Spirit drives. Copyright © 2010 Richard Newton Sherrer Vote for this poem
