HILDA`S SHOES

HILDA`S SHOES

My job is a `carer` as you may well know
And each day to work I happily go,
I see about nine people every day
I start early and finish about mid-day.

Their needs are all different that`s for sure
It makes the job interesting that`s the allure,
Each one a character in their own right
But they never like to dwell on their plight.

Now I`ll tell you all about Hilda`s shoes
A tale I`m sure that won`t fail to amuse,
I`m beginning to hate this pair of shoes
These are a pair that I`d willingly lose.

They`re an innocent looking pair of shoes
But when I pick them up, it`s what ensues!
To my horror I find a spider inside
These 8 legged creatures I can`t abide.

Thinking of those legs and beady eyes
My fear runs riot and multiplies,
I may have touched those legs so thin
The thought sends my head into a spin.

The panic was rising within my chest
I had to think what to do for the best,
I picked up the shoe and carried it out
I really just wanted to scream and shout.

My eyes were glued as I carried it out
If it moved I`d throw it without a doubt,
With sweaty palms and racing heart
I threw the shoe down and let it depart.

The strange thing is you have to see
This isn`t the first time it`s happened to me,
The same thing happened a few weeks ago
Why it`s happened twice I just don`t know.

Not only is it just the same pair of shoes
Again the right shoe the spider did choose,
I`ll not put my fingers inside these any more
As these horrible creatures I do abhor.

Hilda`s shoes are now a nightmare to me
I`m frightened to death of what I might see,
Since there`s been a spider in there twice
Then who`s to say it can`t happen thrice.
