Mercy and Vengeance
Listen, O Heaven as I speak,
Give an ear to the words I seek;
Hear the words that are being flung,
And all the earth, hear from my tongue.
I feel the doctrine of the pain,
As my teaching comes down like rain;
And my speech drips like fallen dew,
On the grass making it look new.
Like a shower on the green plants,
As they fall they appear to dance;
Because of to whom I proclaim,
To the Lord and no other name.
Give God greatness He does deserve,
For He is the One we should serve;
And His truth remains like a rock,
That will not change or not unlock.
God is perfect every way,
And is fair to those who obey;
He is faithful who does no wrong,
And comforts when pain does prolong.
But He sees His people corrupt,
Other idols they do worship;
So they are no longer His kin,
Because of having too much sin.
They are devious and scheming,
Having no hope of redeeming;
And they have totally ignored,
Paying homage onto the Lord.
The Lord will show what their true worth,
When He comes soon to judge the earth;
Mercy and vengeance is the key,
Just how eternity will be.
