'' Prevention's Much Better Than Cure ''
It is truly the curse of Humankind,
The most terrible of all afflictions,
That subject I refer to is,
The one they call Addictions.
There's addiction to drugs and alcohol,
You can even be addicted to food,
The common denominator in all of them is,
None of them do you good.
There's Heroin and Crack Cocaine,
Amphetamines and Hash,
Become hooked on anyone of them,
You'll be heading for a crash.
They will eat you up and spit you out,
Then before you even know,
You cannot break away from them,
Your cravings will only grow.
Then when you ask for help to stop,
It's enough to make you groan,
You're given addictive prescription drugs,
On your weakness these cures will hone.
Contrary to what the experts say,
These 'cures'' are all a curse,
You'll end up like a zombie,
They can actually make you worse.
Tobacco and Alcohol are just as bad,
Despite what the governments say,
They're as addictive as any other drug,
But It gets them extra pay.
The dangers to health with both of them,
Are really quite extreme,
They kill more than all the other drugs,
It's enough to make you scream.
So let's look for the answer,
While the experts make a fuss,
It doesn't lie with replacement drugs,
The solution lies with us.
We all have a choice in life,
To answer yes or no,
If we learn this within the family,
Our knowledge will start to flow.
We'll then mature as individuals,
We'll be gifted with a voice,
It's then up to us which road we take,
We will all have that choice.
We must stop pandering to addicts,
Cease giving them what they want,
Past decisions made on this,
Are now coming back to haunt.
If they really want our help,
Then that will be given,
A condition of the cure they seek,
Is that it is self-driven.
Get rid of the so called experts,
If you knew you'd find it funny,
Most of them don't give a damn,
They're only in it for the money.
They claim to know what they're doing,
The facts against them are strong,
As the addicted multiply year on year,
It proves what they're doing is wrong.
We must all stand up and be counted,
Throughout every single nation,
Take responsibility for our children,
Give them a proper education.
Addiction is self inflicted,
but of this you can be sure,
We must teach them from the day they're born,
