The Safety of the Guardian
I lift up my eyes to the hills,
Where water flows down in the rills;
Wondering where I can find aid,
And comfort from being afraid.
My assistance comes from the Lord,
To who is beloved and adored;
The maker of Heaven and earth,
That has given me life through birth.
He will not be letting me fail,
And will cure me where I may ail;
A Guardian that will not sleep,
Like a shepherd watching His sheep.
I know that I will do my best,
For the Guardian will not rest;
Watching over me day and night,
Always keeping me in His sight.
For the Lord is my Guardian,
My Father and my champion;
Helping me to win the fight,
From temptation and doing right.
The Lord shades me with His right hand,
From the sun and the burning sand;
While He guards me with His left,
From evil attempting a theft.
God guards me wherever I go,
Whence as I travel to and from;
Seeing the bond will not sever,
The here and now and forever.
